TISAX®: More information security for the automotive industry

TISAX®: More information security for the automotive industry

With networking and globalisation in the automotive industry, internal and external risks for companies are growing. The TISAX® (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) standard defined by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) is the VDA's response to the growing need of manufacturing and supplying companies for greater security, including in the handling of confidential information.

The networking and globalisation of the digital future in the automotive industry has numerous advantages, but also brings with it new risks in the world of cyber security.

TISAX stands for "Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange" and is a framework for information security audits that is primarily used in the automotive industry. TISAX was established by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) to standardize data security assessments carried out by manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers.

TISAX assessments are conducted by accredited service providers and are based on a set of requirements defined by the VDA. TISAX assessments enable companies in the automotive industry to demonstrate that they have adequate security measures in place to protect sensitive information, such as customer data and intellectual property.

A TISAX certification is the result of a successful assessment carried out by an accredited service provider against the TISAX requirements. The certification indicates that the company being assessed has implemented adequate security measures to protect sensitive information, such as customer data and intellectual property.

The certification is recognized by many companies in the automotive industry as evidence of a company's commitment to data security, and can be used to demonstrate compliance with customer requirements. Once a company receives a TISAX certification, it is listed in a central database maintained by the VDA and can provide evidence of its certification to customers as needed.

In his presentation "Trusted.Automotive.Industries - Digital transformation along the automotive value chain" at the IAA Mobility, DriveLock CEO Anton Kreuzer showed how an implemented DriveLock Zero Trust platform can help the company to be certified achieve a higher level of maturity and how DriveLock supports the automotive industry in implementing the required measures of the VDA ISA catalogue.
