The Essential Eight - an Australian recommendation to mitigate cyber security incidents
The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has developed prioritised mitigation strategies to help organisations prevent cyber security incidents caused by various online threats. The Essential Eight is the baseline of these recommended mitigation strategies. Implementing these strategies as a minimum makes it much harder for adversaries to compromise systems. What are the Essential Eight?
The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) has developed 5 mitigation strategy categories to help cyber security professionals in
all organizations mitigate cyber security incidents caused by various cyber threats.While no single mitigation strategy is guaranteed to prevent all cyber security incidents, organizations are recommended to implement eight essential mitigation strategies as a baseline. This baseline, known as the Essential Eight, makes it much harder for adversaries to compromise systems.
